GROSSETO
Grosseto is one of the very few Italian cities, along with Lucca and Bergamo, whose historic center is still completely surrounded by walls, built in the medieval period and perfectly preserved over the centuries. The heart of the city is dedicated to the Italian Vate par excellence – Dante – and the town hall, today Palazzo Aldebrandeschi overlooks this square. The city’s cathedral is dedicated to S. Lorenzo (also in Piazza Dante) and the surroundings abound with fortifications and towers, which recall the medieval origin. Characteristic of the city are the wells, located throughout the territory, once fundamental for drawing water, today more than anything else only architectural elements.
The proximity of Grosseto to the sea, in Marina di Grosseto, makes the city a perfect destination for any season of the year. Nature lovers will then find one of the most beautiful parks in Italy: the Maremma Natural Park. Don’t miss the delicacies that the Tuscany region offers in all its capitals, villages and cities: wine and pure olive oil will never miss on the tables!
The historic center of the city – enclosed in the walls – is forbidden to the circulation of tourist buses, which have dedicated parking areas and parking areas.
